Scots in Geelong and District to 1860

The Scots in Geelong and District to 1860 book is an excellent 386 page publication produced as result of research carried out for the Scottish Interest Group of the Genealogical Society of Victoria by Pam Jennings and Susie Zada, and covers the settlement of Scots in the Geelong region of Victoria, Australia, to the west and southwest of Melbourne.

Available in both CD and print-on-demand versions, the book starts with a background introduction to the settlement of Geelong in various phases of its existence, from those who settled prior to 1835, through subsequent emigration schemes to the gold rush and more. The book then works its way through an eclectic mix of topics, including Scottish architects who settled in the area, the names of Scottish churches and schools based in the region, details of Presbyterian burial sections in local cemeteries and a list of many of the more prominent Scots settlers to make their name.

To order the CD or book visit the Bellarine On-line website at http://zades.com.au/gandd - the cost is AU$25 for the CD, or AU$ 50 for the book, plus postage

(With thanks to Susie Zada)
