The Lost Cousins website is offering free access until May 2nd. The site works by adding details of relatives in the 1881 census to the database - if you find a connection with someone laying claim to the same household using the search button, you can contact them and share further details.

And if your inconsiderate relative was out of the country for Scotland's 1881 census, maybe they were counted in the 1881 census for Canada, England or Wales... in which case you can still use LostCousins.
