The University of Glasgow Library has announced that it has secured funding from the Friends of Glasgow University Library to digitise a visitors books relating to New Lanark Mills from the 1820s. How this will be made available is as yet not known, bu the timescle for completion is 2011-2012.

Visitor's books (even recent ones) are great. One of my biggest breakthroughs (in the 1980s) came from contacting someone who had written their interests, name and address in the old PRO Chancery Lane visitor's book.
