Bruce Festival in Dunfermline

Sunday August 28th 2011 sees the Bruce Festival in Dunfermline, Fife. There's more on the event at www.visitdunfermline.com/brucefestival/, which celebrates the life and heritage of the Bruce. There will, however, be wider genealogical assistance available, with stalls from Aberdeen and North East Scotland FHS, Lothians FHS, Fife FHS, Lanarkshire FHS and the Genealogy Clinic Dunfermline.

There will also be a medieval village for the kids and a few other activities, including a series of Bruce Festival Lectures by various people, including Unicorn Pursuivant Adam Bruce (a heraldic post, not a hunter of unicorns!), genealogist Lloyd Pitcairn and Professor Robert Bartlett. These will be at Dunfermline's City Chambers from 10am-4pm. I can't actually see the details of these on the site, so here's a quick summary of the talks (as recorded on a leaflet I was given on Saturday) :

09.45 Coffee/Registration
10.00 Welcome
10.05 The Normans in Scotland - Prof. Robert Bartlett
10.45 Bruce - Adam Bruce
11.25 Randolph with Bruce - Lloyd Pitcairn
12.00 Lunch (Pittencrieff Park)
14.00 Adam Family of Blair Adam - Elizabeth Adam
14.45 Bruce Presents Himself - Jock Ferguson
Question Time

I'm afraid I don't have contact details on how to get tickets for these, and so have no idea if they will cost anything to attend or whether tickets in fact need to be booked, so suggest you contact the organisers if you require more information.

UPDATE 4 AUG: The website has now been updated to provide further information on the lectures - visit www.visitdunfermline.com/brucefestival/event-details.php for details

Chris
