The latest news from ScotlandsPeople Centre:
Refresh Schedule
Indexes at the centre will be updated on a bi-monthly basis with the next refresh scheduled for the end of August. This means that the indexes viewed by customers will be a closer match to those used for civil registration.
Census Street Indexes
We are also in the process of digitising the 1841 to 1901 census street indexes from the original volumes. These indexes generally cover the main urban areas in Scotland. Although only Glasgow and Edinburgh were indexed in 1841, the number of areas increases across the years. The indexes help customers to find which enumeration book includes a particular street or institution, so are a useful aid for family history research. As soon as the work is complete we will provide an update and make the images available at the centre and on our website at www.scotlandspeoplehub.gov.uk.
