The National Library of Scotland will be hosting a day long seminar on October 31st 2008, between 9.30am and 4.00pm, entitled Women on the Platform: Mobilising Scotland to end Black Slavery in America (1834–65). The seminar, which is free, will look at the role of women in Scotland in bringing an end to the support for and practice of enslaving Africans, a trade that Scotland was as much up to its neck in as England. Among the speakers will be Dr. Eric J. Graham. Venue: Causewayside Building, Edinburgh.
Further information will be available in due course at http://www.nls.uk/events/index.html
