I have been trying to transcribe a four page memoir, in difficult 19th century writing, by one of my husband's ancestors. In the past I've always done this without assistance, but having read a lot about Transkribus I gave it a try - the result was dreadful. I also tried Ancestry's transcription add-on, but couldn't work out how to use it. So I put the first page in Scribe AI, and received an instant, accurate transcription. So I tried with a second page, and MyHeritage asked me for £219 - this is because I don't have a full subscription (and don't want one), and it had given me just one free credit. So now I'm trying HandwritingOCR, which is pretty good, though it took longer than Scribe AI: it also gave me five free credits, and will then charge me £15 for 100 credits.
ReplyDeleteScribe AI is completely brilliant ! I loaded an original copy of a German 19th century marriage certificate with the script I cannot understand and was amazed at the result. Complete transcription/translation with details of the document etc. I then continued with an old will and that was transcribed exactly.
