The next Highland Council archives centre to open as part of the institution's 'Hubs and Spokes' strategy will be the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre (Ionad Tasglainn an Eilean Sgitheanach is Loch Ailse) later this year at the Elgin Hostel in Portree, which will include a public searchroom, exhibition space, and a controlled repository which will accommodate the current collections alongside relevant records relating to Skye and Lochalsh which are at present held in Inverness.
