Genealogy sites should serve the public - not harvest them

I'm picking up on this from Daniel Loftus (@DanielGenealogy) and Judy G. Russell (@legalgen) via Twitter.

Hard as it might be to believe, in what was once a compassionate world ghouls seemingly could not wait to upload the names of the victims and the shooter to FindaGrave (www.findagrave.com) in the aftermath of the recent shooting tragedy at Uvalde in the United States. FindaGrave has been owned by Ancestry (www.ancestry.com) since 2013, and a line has been clearly crossed here.

Judy Russell has put it in words so powerful that they cannot be bettered - please read her post at https://www.legalgenealogist.com/2022/05/31/ancestry-this-ones-on-you/ and act upon her request to take action if you agree with her sentiments.

Genealogy sites should be there to serve the public. Not to harvest them.

(Thanks to Daniel and Judy)
