Queen's University Belfast has created a a new, free, web resource which is to be launched this month, a searchable virtual library called 'DIPPAM: Documenting Ireland - Parliament, People and Migration'. It brings together into an accessible form and enhances three existing resources - EPPI - the Enhanced British Parliamentary Papers on Ireland 1800-1922; the IED - Irish Emigration Database, containing runs of emigrant letters, newspaper extracts and other emigration-related materials for the 18th-early 20th centuries; and VMR - Voices of Migration and Return - a collection of 90 interviews with 20th century Ulster migrants.
The resource has been created by a collaboration between Queen's University Belfast, University of Ulster, the Centre for Migration Studies (Omagh) and Libraries NI, and funded by the AHRC. It can be accessed at www.dippam.ac.uk, and will be fully operational from about 9 March. There will also be a number of regional workshops scheduled this month and a launch event at Queen's University March 21st.
