Scottish Roman Catholic family history discussion forum

Sometimes this wee shuggy can be a bit slow on the uptake....!

I've just discovered that in April of this year, the Scottish Catholic Archives launched a discussion forum for family historians. The site is located at www.scottishcatholicarchives.org.uk/FamilyHistory/FamilyHistoryForum/tabid/81/Default.aspx and includes discussion threads on all sorts of material, including Highlands and Islands, Religious Orders, the Irish in Scotland, cemeteries and burial grounds, migration to and from Europe, and more.

The site has barely been touched since it was launched, and I can only assume that this is because it has not been much publicised. But what a fantastic resource! If you have Roman Catholic ancestors, this is one resource that you won' find anywhere else - and as with any discussion forum, you have to be in it to win it.

The site will no doubt come into its own when the digitised Roman Catholic parish registers are launched on the ScotlandsPeople site - the following information on that project was recorded in the forum on September 5th:

As of September 2009, we anticipate an announcement in the next 6 weeks regarding the parish registers online - ultimately we hope to have the project complete and online in the next 5-6 months. An announcement will be made very soon hopefully!
